Moving forward just a little more

I left off on January 11, 2011 so grab your coffee and lets resume where we left off.

January 24, 2011  the guardian releases a warning of solar flares intensifying

January 28, 2011 space.com publishes ‘double’ release solar flare

And then the next day this happens:

January 29, 2011 Egypt uprising

Did I grab your attention yet? You bet as I move along I am also going to show the effects of solar flares to humans

Then this happens…

February 2, 2011 Powerful cyclone slams in Australia

New Orleans, Louisiana issues a press release for their emergency operations center

February 2, 2011 100,000 sharks spotted off the coast of Florida

February 4, 2011  solar flare erupted

We have to go backward to move forward…

What really made me start to think about the current activity with solar flares is how often they are occuring. It seemed every other week I was finding a report come out on national news about another solar flare eruption.  The more I dug through the internet, multiple science communities were reporting we are now in a place where the solar flares will not die down, but instead increase to a solar maximum.

As I mentioned above we have to go backward to move forward.  Keep in mind there are many other instances out there, however I am just keeping it to my findings.

Solar flare on December 27, 2010:

Days later this happened…

January 2, 2011 massive fish death in Arkansas

January 4, 2011 massive fish and bird deaths in Arkansas and Louisiana

January 5, 2011 massive bird deaths in Italy

January 5, 2011 massive bird deaths in Kentucky

January 5, 2011 massive bird deaths in Maryland and Sweden

January 6, 2011 massive crab deaths in England

Flare erupts in The Crab Nebula on January 10, 2011

And then this happened:

January 10, 2011 massive flood in Australia

massive animal deaths

January 11, 2011 snow in 49 out of 50 United States, another report of the snow

For now this is just the first few weeks in January. Stay tuned for more updates, we haven’t even scratched the surface for the rest of January 2011.

Lets dig right in…

First of all What is a solar flare?

A solar flare occurs when magnetic energy that has built up in the solar atmosphere is suddenly released. On the Sun’s surface are huge magnetic loops called prominences. When they touch, they short circuit each other, setting off explosions. The amount of energy released is the equivalent of millions of 100-megaton hydrogen bombs exploding at the same time! A solar flare contains high energy photons and particles, and is released from the Sun in a relatively short amount of time.

Now that you know what the technical term means, lets dig right in to why I started this blog.

I have started to realize each time the Sun releases a solar flare there tends to be a huge event that takes place on Earth within a few days.  <Don’t go away…keep reading> What if I told you just 3 days ago, on Tuesday March 8th there was a solar flare which was a high rating? It’s true go look for yourself at Solarcycle24.

What’s the point?

Three days ago there was a high rating solar flare (ratings of solar flares to be explained later), with in the past 72 hours the following has occured:

  1. 8.9 magnitude earthquake hits Japan with tsunami
  2. Kilauea Volcano erupts in Hawaii
  3. Millions of sardines are found dead in King Harbor Marina in Redondo Beach, California
  4. Massive fish kill in Australia

What’s coming…

Hopefully I was able to make you stop and think. In the next coming days I will share with you my other findings <yes there is more>, as well as explaining the ratings of solar flares.
